Charles StoneCharles Stone is an author and pastor. He serves as the senior pastor of Ginger Creek Community Church, a church of over 1,000 attendees in the Chicago suburbs.

He earned an engineering degree from Georgia Tech, a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

He is a rabid Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket fan.

His upcoming book, due in May 2010, 5 Ministry Killers and How to Defeat Them focuses on how to overcome Pastoral burnout, frustration, and depression to be able to fully serve Christ, their families and, their churches. Using previously unpublished, commissioned research from the Barna Group, LifeWay and Christianity Today, Pastor Charles Stone uses his thirty years in the ministry to identify five potent killers in pastors’ lives and shows how to defeat them to regain the hope and enthusiasm they once had for ministry.

His first book, Daughters Gone Wild-Dads Gone Crazy, co-authored with his daughter Heather, was featured on the Dr. Laura Show as a feature book. They both appeared in a two-part series on Focus on the Family with Dr. James Dobson and their interview garnered a top-ten broadcast rating and was aired again. The book earned Charles the Writer of the Year Award at the Write-to-Publish Conference held at Wheaton College in 2007. Over 25 of his articles have appeared in leading ministry and parenting magazines.

He has traveled several times to Nicaragua to serve the people there. See some of the photos from Nicaragua in the sidebar and on Flickr.

He enjoys fishing, riding his recumbent bike with his wife, and going to the movies with Sherryl, his wife of 30 years (he always gets the jumbo bag of popcorn with a free refill).

Two canines make their home with the Stones in Aurora, Illinois.

He and his wife have three grown children; Heather, age 26, who is married to Charlie Anderson, Joshua, age 25, and Tiffany, age 22.
